Reconstructing the creative process behind this project has always been both fascinating and inspiring.
I was at home, practicing guitar, when I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation between my ex-partner and her pregnant friend, who were sitting in the same room.
The couple’s wish was to decorate a wall in their soon-to-be-born child’s room.
The dilemma? She wanted a whale, while her husband wanted a galleon.
Two elements they believed were impossible to combine in a single design.
At that point, I paused my practice and simply said: “Nothing is impossible.”
After their initial skepticism, I went back to my exercises.
The very next day, during a work break, I turned the concept into something concrete: I sketched a galleon sailing across the ocean’s surface, and, in perfect symmetry, a giant whale guiding it with strength from the depths below.
My thanks go to Doretta Rinaldi for interpreting my idea visually and bringing it to life.
Nothing is impossible:
Balena “Whale” + Galeone “Galleon” = Baleone
